What is Aeration?

Think of a pond or dam fed by a natural, underwater spring that is constantly moving the water and generating bubbles that add oxygen. An aeration system does the same.

Aerators can come in many forms but their main purpose is the same – To supply and circulate oxygen throughout the water body. This circulation lifts the bottom water to the surface where it can release unwanted gasses and pick up oxygen from the atmosphere.

An Aerating fountain is by far the most popular choice as it looks amazing, while adding many additional benefits to the overall health of your dam.

What are the benefits of an Aerating Fountain?

• Improved water quality – Increase oxygen and help prevent the build up of toxic gasses at the bottom of the dam.
• Less sludge – Promote healthy bacteria that help combat the toxic sludge build up at the bottom of your dam. Aeration may even prevent the necessity for dredging your pond or lake in the future by limiting the accumulation of debris and sediment that causes this sludge layer.
• Less Odor – Higher oxygen levels help the aerobic bacteria break down organic material in a water body.  In the presence of oxygen, these bacteria are more efficient and beneficial to the health of your lake or pond.
• Reduced Nutrient Load (Compete with Weeds and Algae) – Aeration helps maintain the delicate balance of a healthy ecosystem in a pond or lake.  When oxygen is maintained at higher levels, nutrients can be broken down and used up which can help prevent possible algae blooms and can also compete with undesirable aquatic weeds.
• Mosquito Control – Stagnant water is a breeding ground for mosquitos.  Circulating the water naturally disrupts the breeding habitat necessary for mosquitos.

How is the Aeration Fountain powered?

All of the models that we currently offer are simply “plug and play”. There are three different “power cord” lengths (up to 58m) to plug into a standard 240v Australian Power Outlet. It is recommended that it a waterproof outlet is used and is professionally installed by a licensed electrician.

Do you offer any Solar powered Aeration Fountains Available?

The short answer is, ‘yes’. While we do offer solar powered option, this is only recommended if there is no other way to get a power source close to your dam as this option can be quite costly.

How can I install my Aeration Fountain?

All of our Aeration Fountains come with the equipment needed to easily install it yourself. If you do not feel comfortable installing it yourself (local area) we are happy to come and install it for you, Free of Charge. If you are not local, we should be able to work something out to suit your needs. Gold Coast, Brisbane and NSW (close to border residents) are eligible for FREE installation.
